Gaza week in Oslo

PROGRAM FOR ESTELLE'S STAY IN OSLO
 

Ship to Gaza's sailing vessel, Estelle, is expected to arrive in Oslo on the 3. August. We therefore want to organize a Gaza-week with an exciting program filled with information, film, debate and music. We are starting the week even before Estelle arrives, kicking it all off with Gaza Cup on the 28. July! This page will be updated frequently, so that you can follow us and join us!
Saturday, 28. July: Gaza Cup

 Time: 12pm - 6pm
 Location: Grünerhagen
 
We are organizing Gaza Cup where you can compete in soccer or basketball, and shoot a ball for Gaza! Food and music will be surrounding the tournament. On stage, KaSimba, Abuwa, Chopsuey, Ruff&Soft, Sarah Osmundsen and African Sunz are going to perform their tunes for us. Food will be served for free, but we appreciate a small donation for each person. All the money we collect will support Ship to Gaza's project.
 

Friday 3. August: Estelle's planned arrival!
Time: 13:00 Press conference at New Orleans

Time: 16:00 Boats who will meet Estelle and follow her to port meet at Honnørbukta.
Time: 18:00 Estelle's arrival
 Small boats are invited to welcome Estelle and join her on her way into Oslo and the port opposite the new Opera, Revierkaia. We expect many interesting people to be on board, and will have a small welcome event when the wessel is parked. 
 


Saturday 4. August: Concert w/Mikael Wiehe, Gatas Parlament a.a.

Time: 13:00

Place: Revierkaia, Map Revierkaia

We will have a concert, at the port by the boat. Swedish musician Mikael Wiehe is going to perform for us. Gatas Parlament, African Sunz and KaSimba will also perform their reggae-, hiphop- and dancehall tunes! In between we will have some interesting speechers on stage.

Time: 15:00

Tour on the boat by Torstein Dahle.

Time: 16:00

Place: On Estelle

Espen Goffeng is going to talk about the Freedom Flotilla and its history. He will be showing some films, e.g. from the Israeli attack on the Mavi Marmara in 2010. Espen was a passenger himself.

Time: 17:00-17:45

Place: On Estelle

Kirsten Jagmann (Ship to Gaza) talks about her trip to Gaza this summer. She has intervewed different people about their everyday lives, the challenges posed by the siege.

Time: 18:00

Place: On Estelle

6 short films from Gaza will be shown. They illustrate the situation in Gaza.

 

 

Sunday 5. August: Tour on Estelle

Time: 15:00

Everyone is welcome to come and have a look at our beautiful vessel.

Time: 16:00-17:00

Place: On Estelle

On board, films will be shown about the situation in Gaza. After that, Kirsten Jagmann (Ship to Gaza) will talk about her trip to Gaza this summer. She has intervewed different people about their everyday lives, the challenges posed by the siege.

 

Monday 6. August: Tour and meeting with fresh reports from Gaza

Time: 15:00

Everyone is welcome to come and have a look at our beautiful vessel.

 

Time: 16:00

On board, films will be shown about the situation in Gaza.

 

Time: 18:00-21:00

Place: The cantine on the 1st floor of the Port storage building (Havnelagerbygningen). The building is located between the port and the corner where Rådhusgata and Fred. Olsens gate cross.

Open meeting with fresh reports about the situation in Gaza, and talks about the plans of Estelle. We will have representatives from the Norwegian Peoples Aid, Save the Children and Ship to Gaza talk about the situation in Gaza and the consequences of the siege. Why is "Estelle"'s mission so important?

 

Tuesday 7. August: Estelles Departure

Estelle is leaving Oslo. Her next stop is Kristiansand, where she will stay from 9.- 11. August.
